Because of a Bridge

Because of a Bridge was a group exhibition at BFM Art Center in Suzhou, China. Over twenty artists met next to an ancient bridge at historic Songling for field research, then responded with two works on the theme of urban renewal. Bilby’s works relate to the renowned history but uncertain future of this area. Connections between past/future, physical/spiritual, east/west and analogue/digital are merged in a way that reflect respect for the history and culture, yet consciousness of being an outsider. The artist has incorporated silk thread into the work to accentuate the idea of connection and because the silk trade was an integral part of Songling tradition.
