Following a career as an advertising art director, Chris Bilby is an emerging visual artist with a Master of Fine Arts from RMIT University.

Currently living and working in Melbourne, his work incorporates drawing, painting, digital printmaking, and collage. A graphic approach is evident in his practice, with an affinity for typography and references to pop culture, informed by his professional background. Often featuring disparate figurative and abstracted images, his work contemplates themes such as memory, transience, identity, connection, and hope.

Having recently lived in China for three years, Bilby’s latest exhibition focused on the intersection of personal and collective narratives across divergent cultures and explored the role of the grid and the archive.

His work is in private collections in Australia, Asia, USA, UK, and Europe.
